Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page

With two Guide Dogs in the village, it's a charity close to our hearts. So, this year we hope to raise at least £2500 to name a puppy. There are around 30,000 children and young people in the UK living with sight loss and every hour of every day another person in the UK loses their sight. This is a terrible statistic!

In August 2018 Guide Dogs celebrated its 10,000th trainee, an adorable yellow Labrador named David. Since the UK's first guide dogs were trained, in 1931, the organisation has gone on to become the world's largest breeder and trainer. But it takes 20 months of specialised training before they can be partnered with someone who has sight loss and can cost around £55,000.

By donating to our campaign you will be starting a puppy on its road to helping someone with sight loss get their own dog and in two years' time we will know that our campaign and our very own named puppy will be helping change someone's life for the better. Thank you.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
