Story
Sam was inspired to mark his sixth birthday with a charity bike ride after supporting our wonderful neighbour, Pam, during her birthday charity bike ride in the Summer. He was really motivated to want to raise money for Manorlands and it's a place that provides outstanding care for those that need it. We have supported Manorlands through various events over the years and it holds a special place in our community. We walk past Manorlands quite often and Sam always likes to talk about what Manorlands is and how we've helped. Doing his own fundraising bike ride is something Sam has talked about since June last year. He is really excited to do this challenge and can't wait for February to begin! The 100km's will be covered during his daily lockdown exercise throughout February. He hope's you are able to spare a few pounds for this extremely worthy hospice. Sam has made a little chart to track his journey and is already to start from the first of the month! Thank you for reading Sam's story.
Lockdown, PPE and visitor restrictions didnt stop Sue Ryder. They kept on caring because people like me cared too. But there is one thing that could stop them now. With less income from their shops and many fundraising events cancelled this year, they already have £2m less coming in each month than they need to keep running at full capacity. We are now in a second national lockdown; every week Sue Ryder's shops are closed the charity loses an additional £500,000. Coronavirus cases are on the rise again and conditions like cancer are going untreated. Sue Ryder Nurses and healthcare staff are needed more than ever at a time when they simply dont have enough funding. Were facing an end-of-life care crisis the likes of which weve never seen before.
