Story

Nancy was a force of nature, a wonderful Wife, Mother, Sister and friend. A talented musician and in particular as a pianist, she shared her love of music widely, bringing great joy to everyone. Her interest in people along with her warm, caring personality meant she was a dear friend to many and her loss leaves a huge void in our lives.

Diagnosed with stage 3 Ovarian Cancer in October 2018, Nancy underwent heroic, life-saving surgery enabling her to go on to receive chemotherapy and survive for a further 20 months. This highlights the nature of this particular cancer and the difficulties posed in diagnosis. It is asymptomatic until well advanced. Over 7,000 women are diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer each year in the UK.

Her acceptance and courage in the face of her diagnosis was inspirational, a testament to her deep faith. The smile that lit up every room never left her.  Any funds raised will be gratefully received by Ovarian Cancer Action, supporting awareness and the continued research into this disease.

We are the UK’s leading ovarian cancer research charity. In the UK only 1 in 3 women live more than 10 years after diagnosis. We are working to better prevent, treat and detect ovarian cancer, so that by 2032 at least half of women with ovarian cancer live for 10 years.
