Story
When an adult or child has been diagnosed with a complex or incurable condition, Havens Hospices can provide the care they need, ‘Making every day count’.
It costs c.£85k/week to operate with little funding coming from central government.
My wife and I have been supporters of Havens for a few years, January 1st 2021, I turned 60 and decided to do something to try to raise awareness about their work and some much needed funds.
I have been using an indoor rowing machine since 2009, however I had not regularly exercised for over 10 years, until May 2020 when I dusted the rowing machine off and got out the lycra!!! OMIL alert!!
In Jan 2021 I decided to raise some money for Havens Hospices by rowing a silly distance. a total of almost 116 Kilometres in a single session (c.72 miles in old money!).
On the 2nd January 2022 I completed my challenge and rowed the 115,972m in 11 hours 17 minute and 54.4 seconds the day after my 61st birthday.
In the process, drank over 3 litres of energy drink (orange squash, salt and sugar!), ate 4 bananas and 2 cereal bars but used 6107 calories during the session.
I called this endeavour 'MyProjectPossible'.
