THE CHALLENGE
In August 2017, a team made up of individuals with no prior experience of Alpine Mountaineering, will aim to reach the summit of the highest mountain in Western Europe! They will train for three months in every aspect that will ensure their success and demonstrate what can be achieved when you put your mind to something.
The main aim of the Mont Blanc 2017 Challenge is to raise awareness and funds for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award; a cause close to the hearts of the team members. The climb is designed to inspire the next generation of young participants to put their skills to the test by continuing to seek out adventure beyond completion of the Award.
WHY DofE?
Like most charities, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award needs charitable funds to continue its exceptional work. Charitable donations go directly to assisting the 190,000 volunteers worldwide who passionately give up their time to support young people. The impact of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award on the lives of young people is truly remarkable and the whole team feels passionately about the life enhancing benefits that adventure brings. Quite simply, there is no better organisation in the world that helps more young people realise their full potential through adventure than the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
