Story

This started as a one-off when an Oakworth parent mentioned that they wanted her child to have something special to mark a lock-down 4th birthday. Mr Zebra stepped up and because it featured on Oakworth hub on facebook there are now daily requests for Mr Beaver (Justin to his friends) and his animal chums to visit people on their birthday within the boundaries of their daily exercise walk in Oakworth and Cross Roads. Lots of other families look out for the characters passing by their house each day and they get lots of beeps and waves from cars passing by.   It did not start as a fundraising activity but a few people asked to donate.  Because of the 2m rule Mr Beaver and his friends can not collect cash so he has started up this page in case people want to make donations.  These characters who would normally appear at the Mascot Gold Cup at Wetherby Races in April each year which raises funds for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice but as that is postponed until 2021 due to the Coronavirus.  Any money raised will go towards helping them continue their vital care at these difficult times. The other characters (friends of Mr Beaver) care of Zoe Sharp and Chris Woodhead joined the team from day one in the areas around their homes and promised that they will walk their patch every dry day when needed.

Sue Ryder supports people through the most difficult times of their lives. Whether that’s a terminal illness, the loss of a loved one or a neurological condition – they’re there when it matters. Their doctors, nurses and carers give people the compassion and expert care they need to help them live the best life they possibly can.
