Story
Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation's research and I'd be so grateful for your support.
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. Unfortunately, I know of loved ones and people who have passed away due to heart conditions.
£24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist. £51 could help BHF have conversations with up to 14 people seeking advice from their Heart Helpline.
Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the UK's single biggest killer. It can affect anyone, but South Asian people are approximately 50% more likely to die prematurely from CHD than the general population.
Risk factors include diabetes, which is up to six times more common in South Asians than in the general population, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
July 2020 will see me run a 10k everyday along with the aim of running 1,000 miles this year. As of 27 June 2020, I've already ran 592 miles this year.
The aim of my challenge is to get people running and be active. People who do at least 150 minutes of moderate activity a week have a 20-30% reduced risk of heart disease or stroke compared to those who don't.
I will also be aiming to encourage people to take up a healthy diet. Adopting a healthy diet can help reduce the risk of developing coronary heart disease and stop people from gaining weight, reduce the risk of diabetes and high blood pressure.
