Story
That's right, it's that time of year again and this time a wild tornado of pink nonsense has rolled in. Looks like October is getting stormy!
31 days and 31 pink creations!!
The old panny-d and what not are still causing issues, and the support for cancer treatment has suffered as a result. Therefore people like Macmillan need more help than ever!
For those who don't already know, the reason I do this every year is because me and cancer have some serious beef. Breast cancer took away my mum in 2006 and then prostate cancer took away my dad in 2012.
Cancer then came for me in 2015 when I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in August of that year. 5 years on and I'm still here and on medication to try and keep it that way.I am forever changed but forever grateful.
I was very young for a breast cancer diagnosis and it was terrifying. I should have been checking and I should have taken the warning signs more seriously, but I assumed I was too young. I therefore do Pinktober to encourage all women, regardless of age, to get into a regular routine of monthly breast exams so that they don't make the same mistake I did.
I choose to support Macmillan with my fundraising as living with cancer is a huge strain on every part of your life and on those around you. Macmillan help with that burden and do the practical work that makes a real difference. In my case it was taking over the benefit claims that were too stressful for me to comprehend and making me cups of tea.Tea is love.
