I am sure that we all know someone struggling with this illness, as a sufferer and as a carer. My dad was diagnosed with dementia four years ago and we we have watched as his condition worsens, he loses the ability to perform simple tasks, loses his dignity and loses the ability to recognise everyone that he held dear.

There is no cure for dementia and even the medicines prescribed can only slow the progress. Research is the only way to understand the disease and hopefully find more effective treatments and ultimately a way to stop the illness completely.

I am taking on the challenge of running 2021 miles in 2021 which averages out at 39 miles per week or 5.5 miles per day.
