We fund life saving medical research to beat the world's biggest killers.

Story

On 5th December 2013 Freya Kianna Powell entered the world, weighing a tiny 4lb 12 oz.

All seemed fine and we were transferred to maternity ward at the Birmingham Women's Hospital. They performed an oxygen saturation test which came back low. They repeated test and was still low. She was then taken away from me and rushed to neonatal for tests. Tests showed she had a narrowed aorta. She would have to undergo open heart surgery to survive! She was transferred to Birmingham Children's Hospital. Where she was kept on drips of medicine keeping her alive until she built strength for surgery. At 6 days she was ready for surgery. The surgery was successful and they found she had hole in heart too which was repaired. She spent 6 days in intensive care most of the time all wired up and on ventilator and with a chest drain fitted. She was then taken back to the high dependency unit. After a week there she was transferred to our local hospital Alexandra Hospital. She remained there for 10 days. Until she was finally allowed home after what seemed like a very long month in hospital.

Now she is a bright, beautiful, determined 3 year old!

This wouldn't of been possible if it wasn't for the amazing research and work BHF do.

So I want to do this skydive to raise money to help further research even more.

Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation's research and I'd be so grateful for your support. The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
