Story
Hello, my name is Michael, my home is in Dunkeld and Birnam, Scotland, and this year 2021, I am going to be walking across Canada with my beautiful dog Luna, an Alaskan Husky, raising money and awareness for Trees for Life, a rewilding charity based in Scotland. We will be leaving Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island on the Pacific Ocean and travelling approximately 5000 miles on foot following the Canadian trail eastwards to Newfoundland and the Atlantic Ocean. A long walk to home! I am hoping through my walk to capture the sense of vast wilderness that still exists in Canada and hope also that through the dedicated work of Trees for Life and the magical people that work there, that in Scotland we will be able to restore some of the wilderness that has been lost to our country over the last few hundred years. Trees for Life is an award-winning charity working to restore Scotland's Caledonian Forest. Its vision is to restore natural forests and rare wildlife to a spectacular wilderness region of the Scottish Highlands. I hope that my walk will attract support for this work, bring me into contact with friends yet to be made along the way, and that at the end of the day that it contributes to the positive difference that Trees for Life are making.
