Story
We are three medical students who are driving an ambulance to Mongolia - and here's why:
1) To raise money and awareness for Go Help - a charity with healthcare and educational projects in Mongolia
2) To donate the vehicle to the Mongolian health service and help with the shortage of emergency vehicles in the country.
Go Help is a wonderful charity which improves access to education and health facilities in Central and East Asia. They provide ambulances to under-resourced hospitals, mobile libraries to remote communities, and scholarships to budding university students. Here is their website: http://gohelp-charityrallies.weebly.com/
Go Help’s Ambulance Project aims to donate ambulances to Mongolian hospitals. Official figures provided to Go Help by the Mongolian government have highlighted a shortfall of roughly 100 ambulances across the country. Furthermore, many vehicles already allocated to hospitals are broken, old or lacking the appropriate medical equipment.
There is a real need for these vehicles, and Go Help ensure that they are looked after and used responsibly. By fundraising for Go Help, we want to make a long-term improvement to the healthcare access of remote Mongolia communities.
All the money raised on this page will be donated to Go Help themselves. Our next fundraising event is a Charity Dinner at St Edmund Hall on Friday 24th February. We hope to see you there!
