Story

In May, I’ll be taking on Ride London – a 100 mile cycle through the heart of London out into the countryside of neighbouring Essex and back for a Tower Bridge finish. My brother and I have an inherited eye disorder called Retinitis Pigmentosa, which means over the years we have lost much of our sight. I have been lucky enough to have the help and support of Professor McClaren at the Oxford eye hospital to try to preserve what little sight I have left and, who knows, maybe have some of it restored in the not too distant future.

As a kid I loved the independence of riding a bicycle so I have decided to get back on a bike for Retina UK to raise funds to help support research into treatments for lots of different kinds of eye conditions. Retina UK is the only UK charity dedicated solely to working for people affected by inherited sight loss.

Dr.Andrew Oates will be joining me as my pilot and together we’ll be taking on the 100 miles on a tandem! Your support will help people affected by inherited sight loss to lead better lives today and accelerate the search for treatments for the future, so please dig deep! Thank you!
