Story
Last year to remember and commerate 100 years since my great Pte Uncle Lawson Austin passed away in Baghdad in the 1st world war I made this sculpture and artwork the feedback to which in social media and twitter was very supportive. Over the spring and summer I have completed the sculpture through colour and framing for display in my studio.
My Grandfather Cpt Ivon Austin MC TD (Lawson's Brother) always had an association with the Royal British Legion and shared stories from his five years as a Prisoner of War (POW) in the 2nd World war following his capture at the time of the Dunkirk evacuation.
As it is 100 years since the end of the Great War this year it only seems appropriate to auction the piece for the Royal British Legion with a £5 donation putting an entry in a draw to win the artwork with all proceeds going to the Royal British Legion (after postage costs).
