We are covering the full cost of the trek. 100% of your donation will go direct to WaterAid Nepal.
I visited Nepal last year and totally fell in love with the amazing country and its people - the sights, sounds and spirituality. I've travelled a lot, but Nepal got me in a way I never imagined. I spent time chatting with families who told me how much their lives had dramatically changed by simply having a safe water supply, decent toilets and hand washing. Hearing their stories and seeing their smiles is a gift I cherish. What hit me hardest was two volunteer community health workers talking about how before people regularly became ill and new born babies and young children died. As a parent I just can't even begin to imagine what that must feel like. Yet sadly, everyday new born babies and young children are dying in Nepal, and in many other places around the world.
The links between dirty hands, dirty water and infant mortality has been known for over 150 years, so this is not a situation waiting for an answer, but an injustice waiting for action. The solution is simple and the time for change is now, you can make the change happen!
Healthy Start is WaterAid's campaign focused on the health and nutrition of new born babies and children.
I loved Nepal so much I said I'd go back. So, in March 2018 Theo (14yrs) and I are trekking the Annapurna Circuit and going over theThorung La Pass (17,769ft above sea level).
Scares us a bit but excited us a lot. It won't be easy. But it'll be amazing. It's our son and father adventure, building memories and raising money at the same time.
We're raising money so WaterAid Nepal can save new born babies' lives. Babies who will grow up to have their own adventures with their parents and their own memories.
We want to raise at least £5,500 (£1 per meter) but we have a really crazy idea to get closer to £17,769 (£1 per foot), and save many more babies lives?
Please remember to Gift Aid your donation if you pay UK tax, as it’ll increase your gift by 25% without costing you anymore. So £10 becomes £12.50 or £100 becomes £125.
What’s more from now until 31st January 2018, the UK Government will match all personal donations to WaterAid pound for pound with their match going to fund WaterAid’s lifesaving projects in Mozambique and Sierra Leone.
Thank you reading, and for supporting us.
