We Investigate, determine and deliver to make our rivers better

Story

Charlie Newington-Bridges, Gerry Stentiford and Julian Sarsby will be running 150 miles along the river Wye from its source in the Cambrian mountains to its mouth at Chepstow starting on May 28th 2018.

We'll be running a marathon a day for 6 days with a double marathon in the middle. We'll be carrying in rucksacks all our food and equipment for the run, so will be self-sufficient other than water and the tent at the end of the day. We're calling this jaunt the Marathon des Salmon.

This is plainly a lunatic undertaking, but our hope is to do three things:

1. Complete it in one piece with most limbs intact.

2. Raise money for two excellent local charities - the Wye and Usk Foundation, the environmental/rivers trust, of which Charlie is a trustee, and Ty Hafan, the childrens' hospice provider.

3. Raise awareness of the environmental threats faced by the River Wye and its habitat.

Your sponsorship will make a substantial difference to two charities that do not have the means of some of the big name charities, but nonetheless do great work in the local area and beyond.

Thank you very much from the three of us.

About the charity

The Wye & Usk Foundation works to restore these two great rivers and their tributaries. Working in partnerships with statutory bodies and landowners it makes good the problems afflicting their salmon and other indigenous species, and provides opportunities for the public to enjoy and benefit from this.
