Story
As some of you may know, I have been swimming in the sea regularly for the past year, but have only recently progressed from just "enjoying" the cold water to putting my swim hat and goggles on and swimming any kind of distance.
I know that hospices have really struggled during the pandemic, and would love to raise some money to help them continue to provide vital services to families in Hampshire and West Sussex. From fundraising through Puddle Ducks, the swim company I work for, I am aware just how much families benefit from and rely on the incredible work they do at Chestnut Tree House, and so any money I can raise will keep me nicely motivated on the less sunny days!
My aim is to complete the distance by the 19th July, but this will be dependent on any further lockdowns which might keep me out of the sea, so fingers crossed. In terms of details, if you're interested, I will be swimming off Southsea seafront, tracking my distance via GPS, and doing mainly circular swims, so not benefitting from the tide. If there are particularly strong currents I might use hand paddles against the tide, in the interest of full disclosure, but no fins, and no wetsuit!
