We are honoured to be able to support patients with life-limiting illnesses & their families, providing them with the care & support they need during difficult times. We have to raise over £1.95 million each year to continue to provide our services to care for our patients & their families.

Story

In the 3 years I have been running I have always wanted to run London but have never got in through the ballot. This year I decided to apply for a charity place to just 1 charity - Primrose Hospice in Bromsgrove who are currently supporting the Johnson family - who are close friends.

In August 2018 not long after a family holiday to Florida Chris started to feel unwell and after a number of visits to various Doctors on 18th November 2018 the families world fell apart with the news that Chris had Motor Neurone Disease.  I can not imagine how it must have felt to find out your loved one has a life limiting disease - it is something no one would ever want to hear.

As anyone can imagine over the next weeks and months the family have gone through every single emotion and have been so brave for the sake of their 2 beautiful children.

Chris made the brave decision to make his diagnosis public at work, West Midlands Police and part of this was to tell people 'It's OK not to be OK' and to encourage people to talk.  During this time Chris and Sharon decided that they had to live life to the full and have as many happy and positive memories as possible for them and the children.

Then Chris's story made the press 'Top Cop has MND' and following this there have been numerous newspaper articles , TV and radio shows where Chris has openly spoken about his fight with the disease and how he is vowing to keep working for as long as he can and overall be a positive influence not just for his family but importantly to highlight MND.

Chris and the family were told about Primrose Hospice, a charity so local to us in Bromsgrove and the support that Primrose could not only offer Chris but the whole family. Visits, advice and counselling are just some of the ways that Primrose has already been able to offer them as a family.  As Chris recently said on local radio  "I had this mental image of what a hospice was and I couldn't be more wrong.  The hospice is there to help you live well"

Chris and Sharon are truly an inspiration in the way they have dealt with this devastating blow and they will all be on my mind as I take to the streets of London next April.  I honestly could not be prouder to call them my friends.

🌼Please help me, support them  and the fantastic work that Primrose Hospice do for those who need their services across Worcestershire. 🌼
