Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Like many, we as a family have been affected by this horrible disease, that is why my husband and I have decided to do something in the hope to raise as much as we can for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.
My amazing mum, Marion, was first diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in January 2015 after being very poorly for most of 2014. I say very loosely that my mum was one of the 'lucky' ones, and was able to under go intense surgery to remove the cancer. After the 9 hour operation mum spend just over a week in intensive care at Leicester Hospital, and without saying was very ill.
It took mum over 6 months to be able to start moving about again after the operation and was in pain so much, being rushed back into hospital numerous times.
My mum was told she wouldn't need any further treatment and would just have a scan every 3 months to check no cancer had returned.
Mum would start to have some good days, which was fantastic as we had all missed having the 'old' Marion around, I had especially missed having my mum about to talk too and spend time with, our 2 young boys had missed their Grandma so much too.
Mum continued to get extreme pain in her right side. It was then in February this year, after scans, blood tests and a biopsy the doctors confirmed our worst fears, the cancer was back. Mum had secondary cancer in the liver and blood.
Mum has been so very brave, she decided to accept the palliative chemo which was offered to her and has also been trying natural remedies, all in the desperate hope she will be given some more time.
As a family we are all trying to spend as much time together and staying positive.
Zeke and I have been thinking for a while about how we can help to raise money for this charity, and finally decised to do the skydive. We shall be doing this on the 17th September 2017.
Anyone who knows me, knows I hate even going on a roller coaster, let along jumping from a plane!! But if doing this means we can help such a good cause then I will do This!!
My amazing husband is also doing the 21k Great Eastern run on the 8th October to help raise funds for this charity too! I am so very grateful to Zeke for doing this for mum, Zeke and my mum are very close and I honestly couldn't be prouder!!
