Story

📆Today (7th Feb 2021) is 11 months to the day that me and Dad took part in one of our last activities together before lockdown,

⚽️We were raising money for our local football club and Derian House Children’s Hospice by doing a sponsored indoor cycle  with other members of the football club.

🇲🇹Dad was in Malta at the time, but didn’t let that stop him from doing his bit, and so instead of joining us in the supermarket for the group cycle, he did it virtually by jumping on an exercise bike in Malta and filming it (I can’t find the video or photos anywhere, if someone comes across them please pass on)

😇Dad sadly passed with Covid yesterday, with his wife & soul mate Tonia by his hospital bed.

👨‍⚕️👩‍⚕️Dad was so grateful for the treatment, support and assistance given to him by those NHS workers in Royal Preston Hospital ICU, and this seems a fitting way to thank them on his behalf.

💍So, why 6586km? This is the distance from His and Tonia’s home in leyland, to the Santana Hotel in St Paul’s Bay, Malta.. and back again. The Santana is where he and Tonia married on his 50th Birthday, the 28th May.

🚴‍♂️So I’m going to try and complete this distance, doing little bits on the bike every day and accumulating the distance, all before their wedding anniversary on 28th may

➗I’ll save you the maths... it’s over 50k per day

🙏🏻I (and he) would  love it if you could donate whatever you can afford to sponsor me help raise funds for those working at RPH ICU to help provide care for those struggling with Covid-19
