I have been devastated by losing members of my family to cancer and also colleagues and friends. Sadly every day the age is getting younger of women affected. I have decided I will be taking part in the 7th WOMEN V CANCER challenge in 9-19 OCT 2017. I will be challenging myself as part of a team of women only cyclists riding through Salvador in Brazil to support the work of the 3 charities Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action. The group will be cycling 350k in 5 days (46 miles some days) both on road and off, experiencing rural Brazil, tropical coastline and Atlantic Rainforest, away from tourist trails and hotspots. THIS IS A CHALLENGE NOT A HOLIDAY!!. The Women V Cancer challenge is in fact made up of 3 challenges –getting fit enough for the cycle ride; successfully raising the sponsorship money £3500 and then completing the challenge itself. Every £1.00 raised is valuable and I will be holding various fund raising events throughout the year until July. I am not fit. Although started training and don’t even have a bike yet so this is a BIG THING for me
