Story
Thanks so much to everyone who supported me! I'm couldn't stop fundraising for MRF, but now I'm taking on a different challenge. See justgiving.com/fundraising/lom3 for more :)
In October 2022, coming to a London near you, I'll be tying on my shoes and running the prestigious London Marathon!
I'm a Physics student at the Uni of Nottingham (although a Devon child at heart) and I've been running for about five years since my first 30-sec-run/5-min-walk foray into Couch to 5k. Some of you who know me can testify that I didn't grow up sporty - theatre (pantomime is a favourite!), brass band and reading in a comfy chair have more been my style. Fortunately though, despite multiple injuries due to over-enthusiasm, I'm more dedicated than ever and super excited to get down to proper training!
Not only is this a personal challenge, but I'm fundraising for the Meningitis Research Foundation. Meningitis disproportionately affects young people, including students, and affects over five million people all over the world every year. MRF, a leading UK charity, has a plan to change that, working with the World Health Organisation to create the global road-map to eliminate bacterial meningitis epidemics by 2030. I particularly want to see meningitis defeated, given my Mum has been hospitalised with it.
MRF relies on donations for all their work, from funding research to directly supporting people suffering from meningitis. Anything you can give, even just a few pounds, is so greatly appreciated - and it all goes to charity, since I'm paying all of my own costs (gear, entry fee, travel etc) myself.
If you want to support my cause but don't have anything spare, don't worry! I have an easyfundraising account, which means you shop online as normal and, without any extra cost to you, the retailer donates to Meningitis Research Foundation. I'd really appreciate you taking one minute to set it up: https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/lommachin/?invite=ZOM5YU&referral-campaign=c2s
