Story

My name is Lilly-Mai and I'm 11 years old (Almost 12)

Firstly Thank You for visiting my page and taking your time to read my story.

Recently on 2nd August 2017, my friend Keira sadly passed away. She was 8 years old and had DIPG ( Diffuse Instrinic Pontine Giloma) - which is a rare Brain Tumour. Keira was just 5 years old when she was diagnosed and due to it being so rare she was offered a pioneering treatment (CED - Convection Enhanced Delivery) from Professor Steven Gill and his team at Funding Neuro. After under going this clinical trial Keira's tumour shrank by a 1/3 and went on to not only be a DIPG warrior but the longest survivor to date. This brave and courageous lion cub fought for almost 3 years and she has inspired me and many others.

Funding Neuro relies on donations to be able to continue their ground-breaking work. I want to help them continue what Keira started to make the incurable curable, allowing more children to survive.

I would like to raise £1000 if not more. I'm intending on doing this by :

Cutting My hair - I did this on the 30th August and had 32cm cut off. I raised £68 on the day for Funding Neuro.

Running the Coast of The Wash which is 75km (46miles), I intend on doing this over period of Time through different Races and I'll accumulate my kilometres till i reach 75km.

The people who have been following my story will already know i have already completed:

  1. The Bubble Rush 2017 5k, (the course was cut short by 1k due to work being done on park so we had option to go round again so we did and did 8k instead) I did this on 27th Aug 2017 in 50mins
  2.  The Colour Run 2017 5k, I did this on 10th Sept in 45 mins
  3. Race at Your own Pace, 20 miles (32km) - I did this over 3 weeks in September 2017 completing my final 3 miles in Glasgow (the home of Funding Neuro) on the 29th Sept 2017, in time for their 10 year anniversary Ball/Prom.

I now intend on doing:

  1. The Santa Run - in December Details to follow

I'm still looking with my mum at other runs i can participate in. To keep up to date like my page on facebook: Lilly-Mai's Fundraising for Funding Neuro (@lioncub2005)

Thank You Again

Lilly-Mai xx
