Story
A very long story short- both myself and Hannah would value any support!
Lili says-
“Running doesn’t come remotely naturally to me so please know this isn’t a decision I have taken lightly and I know how hard it’ll be for me. I am the sort of person who doesn’t like to go to the bathroom alone so I really am delighted that Han said yes without hesitation when I asked if we could do this together.
I started training as a way to lose weight and I’ve put weight on - I’m assured this is muscle! 😂 but as many as you know I have always been very passionate about charity fundraising. I picked Brooke because as a registered charity I feel confident that any monies raised will go directly to the causes. They also educate the people responsible for the equine welfare and that’s just as important as helping the horses and donkeys they already help.
Knowing now that we have been accepted for The Bloody London Marathon and it’s official- I’ve lost my mind- I know I won’t give up because I wouldn’t let them down. It’s terrifying and exciting considering I have only been running for a few breathless, swearing and painful weeks! “
Hannah says-
“Lili and I have always called each other our “unlikely friend” - we shouldn’t work, but we do! We are chalk and cheese in many ways, and running is no different. I am not built to run and it doesn’t come naturally to me, but I love it and have been running consistently for almost 3 years. When Lili took up running a month or so ago I was so excited for her and couldn’t wait to get out running together, thinking I needed to get some runs in before she jacked it in. Lili hates every step of every run, doesn’t get the high after a run and despises the whole thing which I find highly amusing. She then told me that she had applied for a place for the London Marathon running for Brooke. I know, shock! That’s 26.6 miles for no enjoyment - poor her! I volunteered to help her on her training runs, she asked me to run it with her, I said okay and filled my application in the following day.
Horses are our common ground, Lili used to teach me on my unruly Welsh Section d who we transformed in to a pretty cool dressage horse, and then we became friends. As a horsey person, I have always had a keen interest and respect for animal welfare so being able to run this for Brooke and to help support the work they do for horses and donkeys across the globe, it was a no brainier!
So here we are having been given a place for the London chuffing Marathon (!!) and now we need your help! If you know Lili, or myself, you will know that if we say we are going to do something, you can trust that we will do it. This marathon will get completed - however long it takes, it will get done. I will enjoy running it, and Lili will hate it. Please help in any way you can to keep us motivated to do our best!!”
