Story
My brother, Mike, has suffered with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) since his early teens. It's something he's battled with for over 30 years. In that time he's remained determined and driven to keep fighting the illness and its conditions. Mike is both my best friend and my hero.
Like all siblings, we'd do anything and everything to help them. Well, by me running the marathon for the MS Society, I'm going to help him indirectly through the funds that I raise. And I need your help...
Money raised will provide both treatment for people that suffer with MS and fund research that will one day find a cure for the disease.
Over 100,000 people in the UK have MS and it can be different for everyone. Most often it can be painful, exhausting and drastically impact how people walk, move, see, think and feel.
The MS Society has been there for Mike for the past 30 years, and through my small efforts, money that is raised can help them continue to be there for Mike and others. Your donation really will make an impact:
- £5 can help pay for laboratory essentials to aid further research
- £50 could provide much needed equipment for the rehabilitation centre
- £500 could run an MRI scanner for 2 hours that will provide detailed images of the brain to help better understand MS
This will be my 3rd time running the marathon so I know how hard the training will get and the pain I will feel on the day. But in honesty that's nothing compared to what Mike has to battle on a daily basis.
Many of you reading this will have helped support my efforts back in 2008 and then again in 2012. I would like to ask you, and any new supporters, to help me one more time. Your donations and words of encouragement mean so much to me on those cold and wet February mornings.
Your support will enable the MS Society to help so many more just like Mike.
Thank you, one love.
