Story
This summer I am raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support and CRUK (https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/leias-giving-page-15) to run the Chiltern 50km Challenge (a 50km ultramarathon)
and race the 2023 Big Half Marathon in London (hopefully sub-2 hours!), both in September.
As many will know, I had my own battle with cancer this time last year. I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in February 2022, and was lucky enough to be deemed cancer-free in July 2022. My treatment had its ups and downs, with my initial treatment plan nearly sending me into heart failure and landing me in a hospital bed, but ultimately the team (particularly the nurses) at Addenbrooks hospital were amazing and got me back on my feet.
The information and support provided by Macmillan was invaluable, especially in the early days of my diagnosis when I was trying to understand my options and the feelings I was experiencing around the entire ordeal. In their words, "Macmillan gives people with cancer everything they’ve got. If you’re diagnosed, your worries are Macmillan’s worries. Macmillan’s doing whatever it takes. But without your help, Macmillan can’t support everyone who needs them."
Thank you for supporting me!
