Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

5 years ago in the nursery where I worked there was a beautiful little girl who sadly lost her battle with an aggressive brain tumour. Little Katie was only 4 years old. She was a delightful child full of love and laughter with an infectious smile that warmed everyone's heart. Katie bravely fought her battle with remarkable strength and determination. She was such an inspiration to all that met her. Her favourite pastime was to collect flowers and I remember fondly her handing me small posies she had collected on her way to nursery, delicate petals in an array of colours.  Ironically summarising her short life, delicate but beautiful and vibrant.

When we found out Katie's diagnosis was terminal we as a school wanted to support her family and fundraise to highlight awareness. Katie's parents chose NECCR as the charity to support and that's when the Whickham Waddle was born. Katie attended the very first walk along with her identical twin sister and all her classmates. She was so happy when we stopped for a play in  the park, smiling and laughing as I pushed her on the swings.

Katie's memory lives on and we are about to embark on our 5th annual waddle and hoping to exceed our £2000 target. Please support us in our journey to make a difference.

Some day we will find an appropriate treatment for these cancers, that's why continuous research is so important!                                                         Please give what you can, every little helps!!

Thank you for your support xx
