Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My Father in Law Alan suffered a stroke in 2021 and needed a lot of assistance and support from different agencies. As he is a war veteran, one of the agencies he turned to was The Royal British Legion as he has always been a big supporter of them. They arranged so much help for him and my Mother in Law Irene and arranged for disability aids to be installed in the house. In August 2022 Irene unexpectedly and very suddenly passed away. Alan was understandably distraught and once again turned to The RBL for help. I spoke to them on the phone on his behalf a couple of times and they could not have been more supportive and helpful while he was grieving.
A couple of weeks after we lost Irene, the Country lost our Queen. In a totally unprecedented time, our serving armed forces stepped it up like no other. They showed compassion, heroism, commitment, dedication, hard work and immense pride during a long 2 weeks. This made me feel even more that I needed to do something to give back to the charity that supports them and all the retired veterans around the Country.
This is my reason for wanting to complete 26.2 miles around London and to raise as much money as possible. I want to make Alan and every serving and retired veteran know they are valued beyond words. And I want Irene to never be forgotten.
