Story
The day it all began
Hi, My name is Katie and my partners name is Jay. This is our story about Our son Theo who was born at 26 weeks weighing just 350grams, the second smallest baby to be born in the UK. Around 6pm on the 15th of March i was taken into theatre to have a C section. He was born at 7:28pm, as soon as they delivered him they had to put a breathing tube down his throat because he was too small to breathe on his own. we only got to see him for about 30 seconds before they took him to intensive care so they could get him stable. They told us the survival rate was very slim and we should prepare ourselves for the worst. His skin was so thin that you could see his organs. He had to have blood tests done daily and due to this he was getting regular blood transfusions. It was 2 weeks before we got to hold him, he was still very small but putting on weight. They kept telling us the worst. The day he came off his ventilation they told us to expect him to go back on within the week, That was the 5th april now we are just over 3 weeks on. He is 6 weeks and 4 days old and he is still breathing on his own with only oxygen prongs and now weighs 2lb 6oz. He’s on 23mls of milk with fortify every 3 hours and is looking bigger every single day. Tiny lives has helped to support us by giving donations and helping us be close to our son. We are wanting to give back to them because without them we wouldn’t have been able to be close to him. We can’t thank everyone who has took part and continues to take part in the care of our son Theo. Thank you for taking your time to listen to our little story.
