Story
Hi there. I'm Kash 'the Flash' Gill.
And I am looking to build a team of 100 runners for this year’s Simplyhealth Great Birmingham Run to raise as much as we can for Cure Leukaemia.
Born in Handsworth, my career was spent in the sport of Kick Boxing, where I was World Champion at four different weights, and I was named in the BBC Hall of Fame in 2013.
I now run my own gym in Edgbaston, and always aim to stay fit myself, although my knees probably aren’t the best for running.
That’s not going to stop me though, and, whoever joins the team, we will be able to meet up every month to six weeks to check on progress and go on a training run.
I am an Ambassador at South & City College, one of Cure Leukaemia’s corporate partners, and was inspired by meeting Geoff Thomas recently so choosing such an innovative and important charity is a perfect fit for the Run.
I am always keen to help local charities, and this is my biggest challenge yet.
We are setting a big target – but why not aim high? There is still plenty of time for people to start their training, get really fit and healthy, and raise money for a really important cause.
To sign up for Kash’s team and take part in the Great Birmingham Run for Cure Leukaemia, email beinspired@cureleukaemia.co.uk
The Simplyhealth Great Birmingham Run will take place on Sunday October 13th 2019 and Cure Leukaemia will have another strong team taking on the 13.1 miles to raise funds.
All funds raised by Cure Leukaemia's team this year will go towards funding vital specialist research nurses across the country.
Without these nurses, blood cancer patients, that have exhausted standard treatments for the disease, would miss out on accessing pioneering and potentially life-saving drug and transplant therapies. Not only will these funds directly help save lives, they will also hasten global progress towards eradicating all forms of blood cancer within 25 years.
Please help me raise funds so this great charity can continue to save lives and fight blood cancer.
