Story
I've had the very great privilege to travel to Tanzania many times since 2003, often taking teams of students to play football and see the work of Amani Centre For Street Children in Moshi. Amani is a seriously inspiring place. The plight of street children the world over is desperate. In Moshi in Northern Tanzania, Amani gives some of those kids a chance- a chance to be safe, to be reunited with their families, to get an education and indispensable life skills. And most of them get to work on their footy skills as well...
I love what Amani do, I love the way they do it. It's a well run organisation that has become a beacon of best practice for Children's Centres across Africa and beyond. I've always been impressed at how well they use any help they receive.
For this reason I will be running the 26 miles of the Birmingham marathon for Amani on October 15th. Its a daunting prospect but I've been putting the miles in all year in training and hope to cover the distance in around 3 hours 15 minutes. Maybe. If You would like to support my efforts and contribute to the lives of some amazing kids that would be awesome. Even a few quid can go a long way in Moshi.
