Story
The ELY Race Club sits under the umbrella of the ELY Memorial Fund. They are proud to announce their first challenge in raising the profile of the Charity and to encourage safer cycling on our County roads.
The Cycling team will start their journey on the 12th August where they will fly to Inverness then travel to John O'Groats to prepare for their start on the 13th August. At 6am the cyclists will commence their challenge cycling 15 hours to complete 180 miles per day for 4 days. On the 5th day they will cycle 130 miles to reach their destination at Lands End and complete their challenge.
This is a huge challenge that requires exceptional training from the team who are funding costs of accommodation, vehicle hire, fuel and food themselves to make sure this event can be given the best advantage to help the team achieve their aims of raising £8,000 for the ELY Memorial Fund..
The ELY Memorial Fund was founded for the sole purpose of providing a one-off payment towards funeral costs should a family who reside in Herefordshire lose a son or daughter aged between, in particular but not exclusively, 17 to 25 years in a car accident. Ange & Steve, parents of Emma Louise Young (ELY) did not have sufficient funds to cover the costs of her funeral. The Charity does not want families to financially struggle through devastating circumstances.
