Event: London Landmarks Half Marathon 2023, on 2 April 2023
On Sunday 2nd April, our team of big-hearted heroes will take on the London Landmarks Half Marathon for Refugee Action.

Story

I was so delighted to be invited to run the London Landmarks Half Marathon. I ran last year 21 miles on my own, and have confidence that I'll finish this - training to break 3 hours.  I love London, my old home - and the fact the roads will be closed for us... even if we have to get up early. Come and watch and cheer us on! It will be so fun to run with other people.

As far as supporting refugees goes - there are many fleeing religious persecution. 5000 were killed in Nigeria alone...

There is a shortage in our workforce - those who flee tend to be educated, so we hope they will soon be able to contribute to our country straight away. As we welcome others, so we will be blessed as a country. Refugee Action helps folk get established: those who are ignored and badly treated.

I'm training in Holyrood park in Edinburgh, which has a couple of steep hills. One round is 5k, I joined a race accidentally on Saturday and got to go through the finish line and on.. to finish my run. Nice to be cheered though.

Leviticus 19: when a foreigner lives with you in your land,, don't take advantage of him. Treat the foreigner the same as a native. Love him lie one of your own. Remember that you were once foreigners in Egypt (meaning their ancient great-great... grandparents). We've all come from somewhere else. Deuteronomy 10 "God, the God of all gods... does not play favourites... takes loving care of foreigners by seeing they get food and clothing. You must treat foreigners with the same loving care." Us blessing them attracts God's attention, so our country is blessed in return.

It's cool to combine 2 goals - do something for others - and run, which I do to stay alive (and enjoy my city). If I don’t run I get so tired. If I do then I get fresh air and outdoors, daylight and a higher metabolism. Although the best thing for the latter is to be vegetarian/vegan😍
