Nothing like a challenge to get you out of bed in the morning...
14 years ago I had a shock diagnosis of cancer and today not only am I well, but am fitter and healthier than I was in my 30s.
I'm doing this challenge in recognition of the many people who are struggling with life limiting conditions. I'm part of a team of 800 riders including my ride buddy Andy May and we'll be cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats - a mere 969 miles in 9 days.
So far I'm really enjoying the training, although am still fairly terrified about the prospect of a 110 miles a day in the saddle. I've heard that the scenery is fabulous - what a way to see the UK - and organisation is first class. Praying saddle sores keep at bay, and that the weather is kind. Looking forward to the camping (!) and hope this doesn't put me off canvas for life.
Please support this effort - South Bucks Hospice have a new building in Wycombe and are providing much needed services for those with life limiting conditions.
