Story
I’m running the London Marathon for Crohn’s and Colitis UK because on the 7th February 2020 I lost my lifelong best friend to Crohn’s disease. Jay lost his fight with Crohn’s 2 months after his 46th birthday. Jay suffered with Crohn’s most of his adult life, spending years in pain before diagnosis. Multiple flare-up, surgeries and periods of remission followed diagnosis. Jay’s final hospital admission started just before his 46th birthday in December 2019. He had surgery to remove a 32cm section of his small colon and needed a stoma. Jay never left hospital, losing his fight on the 7th of February 2020
Jay was a special human being! A talented athlete and a gifted artist. He loved motorcycles and the outdoors and adored his faithful basset Baxter. The world is a poorer place without him.
So little is known about this horrific disease that has such a significant and life-changing impact on those who suffer from it and the people who love them!
My challenge aims to create a legacy for Jay and to help Crohn’s and Colitis UK support those who suffer with this condition and fund research into finding effective treatments and cures for this horrific disease.
Crohn's & Colitis UK are the UK's leading charity for Crohn's and Colitis. Right now, over 500,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of. I am taking part in the 2024 TCS London Marathon to support Crohn's & Colitis UK, and your donation can help Crohn's & Colitis UK's mission to improve diagnosis and treatment; to fund research and raise awareness.
