Story

Who doesn't like a day at the beach?

And who doesn't like travelling to and then trekking across one of the most inhospitable places on the planet?

And what if that place you're trekking across just happens to be one big beach except with added camels and scorpions and no sea (or water, or shade, or ready access to McDonalds)?

Well. Count me in!

That's right. At the tender age of 48, I will be crossing the Sahara Desert and it'll all be in aid of Prospect Hospice, who provides end of life care for Swindon and Wiltshire. You can read all about the official Prospect challenge I've signed up to at www.prospect-hospice.net/product/team-prospect-sahara-trek

But, I'm not just doing that...

Together with a few comrades in arms, I will be spending the next year continually fundraising with events galore just to raise the £2700 needed in aid of the charity to enable me to go. I've already paid the deposit to pay for the trip so this is all about getting those much-needed funds to one of the most worthy causes around.

This means, that I will be doing 10k runs, a half marathon and a bunch of other stuff and events so that I've got an excuse to keep bothering you to give me money for Prospect. (The runs will definitely help me get to the fitness level needed to ruddy cross a desert... hopefully)

The whole thing is a mammoth undertaking and it's a bit daunting but what's life if it isn't for living, eh?

It's going to be emotional.

And I might even end up with a camel as a best friend. So that'll be another thing crossed off the bucket list.
