Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We are walking to raise money for the Hospice in memory of Steve.
Dad (Steve Sheppard) was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in September 2015; just 2 months later on 9th November 2015 he passed away at Watford Peace Hospice.
Our family was rocked to the core and left in shock, bewilderment and utter sadness at losing such a devoted husband, amazing Dad and loving Granddad. As we look back now on the darkest of days, the shining light is The Peace Hospice. They gave Dad a large room and devoted it to our family, giving us the space and precious time we needed. Family and friends were able to come and go, spending time and sharing memories with Dad. Day and night, we were all made to feel welcomed, supported and cared for by the team of doctors, nursing staff and volunteers at The Peace.
On 9th July 2016 a team of ladies 'The Sheppardesses' will be completing the Starlight Walk with Dad in our hearts and The Peace Hospice on our minds. They need to fundraise £4 million every year to continue the amazing work and services they offer. The thought that a bed might not have been available for Dad, when we needed The Peace the most, doesn't bare thinking about it.
The Peace are still supporting us and, along with our wonderful family and friends, are helping to make the unbearable bearable.
Thank you for reading our story; please support us and The Sheppardesses if you can.
