In May I am taking part in a 100 mile hike around the Isle of Man to raise money for Maternity worldwide because no woman should die giving birth.

Maternity Worldwide has a vision of a world in which all women and their babies are able to access high quality healthcare. They have projects in Ethiopia, Malawi and Uganda with the aim of reducing the number of women dying in childbirth. I have worked in Ethiopia with Maternity Worldwide and visited their projects in Malawi so have seen first-hand the work they are doing.

•    They train local midwives and birth attendants
•    Provide health facilities to rural areas and remote communities
•    Improve access to facilities
•    Empower women to become decision makers about their own health.

It costs around £15 to ensure access for a safe delivery for a mother and her baby or just £40 for those who require a Caesarean section.
