Story

Around 12 months ago, I noticed a small bald patch on the back of my head but I didn’t know what it was, so I didn’t worry about it and just left it. After a while, one of my friends noticed that the patch had grown, so I decided to go and see the doctor to see what was causing it. I was told that it was a condition called Alopecia Areata, told not to worry and that it would grow back in a few months time. However, the patch continued to grow and grow, and during my GCSEs more and more patches began to appear. My hair started to fall out rapidly, to the point where I was waking up every morning with clumps sat on my pillow, and masses of it falling out when I was washing my hair. I kept my hair for my prom, but afterwards I made the hard decision to shave it off. Although this was a very traumatic decision for me, I knew that it was the right one to make. A few weeks after I had shaved my head, I started to notice hair falling out elsewhere on my body. It was at this point that I was diagnosed with  Alopecia Universalis, and that I was going to lose all of my hair. This was obviously a very difficult and emotional time for me, and I am so grateful for the support of all those around me, including the charity and it’s representatives. 4 months after losing all my hair, I have decided to give something back to the charity that I am so grateful for, and raise money to go towards helping others that are experiencing what I have and am experiencing, and hopefully give them the support that they need to get through. Thank you for taking your time to read this, and please donate to my cause 😊.
