Story

Thanks everyone for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I will be running in this year's Great North Run 2022 to raise money and awareness of the work of Cairdeas International Palliative Care Trust. As always, I will be running in memory of my son Peter, who died from a brain tumour aged 15.  His memory will hopefully carry me through the whole 13.1 miles.

Cairdeas IPCT provide Palliative care education, training
and support to health care workers and volunteers in low to middle income countries where it is difficult to access such services. A typical Cairdeas project is "Transform Obonji" in Northern Uganda where they work with local partners to train local people to provide quality palliative care. This enables these local people to provide care and to relieve the suffering of people with life limiting illnesses who are already living in difficult circumstances. Project Transform Obonji is serving approx 250,000 refugees from South Sudan in Uganda's Upper Nile area. For more information about the work of Cairdeas IPCT see their website at www.cairdeas.org.uk.

For anyone who's interested, my run number this year is 22815 and you can track my progress on the day via the Great North Run app.  My start time is 10.45am
