Story
Hello! I’m Lydia as most of you know ! I had heard about Alzheimer’s as a family friend had it and although I was too young to understand everything I knew it meant you would gradually lose that person. A few years ago my grandad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, looking back you can see signs of it much earlier on. Personally this has completely devastated me. Before lockdown I went to my grandparents every Friday and I slowly noticed things getting worse - forgetting where glasses were, repeating the same stories, asking the same question and losing keys etc. Not long after being diagnosed my grandad fell down his stairs, this caused a brain injury and his Alzheimer’s got much worse all of a sudden. I don’t see my grandparents regularly at the moment (due to lockdown) but he seems to be doing slightly better but my Nan is now his carer and she is very strong so I can’t say for sure. It’s sad gradually losing different parts of someone so close to my heart. This awful illness needs to be stopped. Thank you to everyone for supporting this challenging journey - I will be forever grateful and the help this money will bring means everything to me. (I will be doing this from the 1st April 2021-31st May 2021)
