Story
In August of this year I shall be embarking on a 1000 mile solo ride around the northern part of Scotland over 10 days. The route will take me from Aberdeen along the northern section of the NE 250 route towards Inverness and then around the NC500. After this it will be a spin south to Aviemore and on to Glencoe before returning to Aberdeen which should be just about 1000 miles (and certainly 1000 cakes too…).
I’ll be doing this in aid of the Scottish Association of Mental Health (SAMH). We’re all aware of the statistics these days that 1 in 4 will be affected by a mental health issue at some point in their lives and the work that the charity does to help people in these situations is of great benefit. This is an issue that I have been personally affected by and I want to raise as much awareness and support for the cause as I can. Incidentally this is one of the reasons I enjoy cycling so much because it allows you to just forget life’s problems and just enjoy the moment you are in.
The money raised will be used to support the work of SAMH. You can read about the great work they do on their website(www.samh.org.uk). If you could spare a pound (or ten) then I’m sure they would appreciate it.
P.s although I’m almost certain no one will take me up on this but if anyone fancies joining on any of the days for a bit then feel free. The pace will be leisurely and the stops frequent.
