Update
WE DID IT!!!
We were both utterly petrified as we arrived at beautiful Compton Abbas airfield yesterday morning and saw another mad person taking to the skies. Some deep breathing and Rescue Remedy were both a great help as were the wonderful team who came to support us – a big thank you to all of them.
We did not have much time for the butterflies in our stomachs to build as the pilots were ready for us to go almost immediately. Jimmy did the gentlemanly thing and braved it first and Rosie was then duty bound to go! Having got over our initial nerves, we both loved this very exhilarating, face-flapping experience so got the full adrenaline version from the pilot. Rosie admits to a few screams.
A huge thank you to all of our magnificent supporters as we have now smashed our very ambitious £5k target having received a very generous £200 cheque in today’s post to add to our JustGiving total. We are absolutely thrilled and of course the Diverse Abilities team are too.
Thank you for your generosity and for getting behind this mad challenge which was borne at our Hoburne Christmas Party. A little party spirit has done some good we feel and despite the terror, we did enjoy putting ourselves through it for such a great cause.

Every year at the Hoburne Group Head Office in Christchurch we nominate a charity for our fundraising project and this year we chose Bournemouth based Diverse Abilities.
Prior to lockdown, our charity committee had scheduled a number of events and activities from dress down Fridays to Quiz Nights and boat trips. Sadly, our fundraising activities ground to a halt when the coronavirus pandemic hit the UK, and now most of these activities cannot be run due to current social distancing guidelines.
To try to make up for lost time and money for DA, at very short notice, we have signed up to do a Wing Walk from Compton Abbas airfield on Sunday, 6th September!
Intrepid or mad? We will let you know after the event! We aim to raise as much as possible of the £3000 target that was set for this year’s fundraising project and so need your help. We appreciate that these are difficult times in which to ask for financial support, but the wonderful team at Diverse Abilities are battling on as ever to provide their much needed services – life for them goes on just the same and their budgets are severely strained to say the least. So whatever you can give will be very gratefully received by them.
Thank you on their behalf, as well as ours, for your help and support.
All best
wishes.
