Story
Last year I had the privilege of being asked to be Godfather
to two of my best friend’s first child, Freddie. It is an honour and a position I will cherish forever.
Unfortunately earlier this year Freddie was diagnosed with a
very rare and severe form of child epilepsy called Dravet Syndrome. It is a condition that effects 1 in 19,000 children with symptoms and seizures starting within 12 months of being born. The seizures are very difficult to control and potentially life long, effecting a child’s physical and mental development growing up.
Whilst this has been heart breaking for my friends they have
been extremely positive and inspire me and everyone in their lives every day. They have started raising money for this amazing charity to not only raise awareness of the disease but help support the charity in funding research and supporting other families with children suffering from Dravet Syndrome.
The charity is only very small given the rarity of the disease and I have been given my friends blessing to help raise as much money as possible for the Charity to help children like my Godson and hopefully one day find a cure or better medication in treating the disease.
My colleagues and friends at work have volunteered their
time and as a team have set ourselves the challenge of doing ‘The Yorkshire 3 Peaks’ on 11th August 2018. The route takes us around three of Yorkshire highest peaks covering 24 miles (38.6km) including 1585m (5200ft) of ascent. We are aiming to get around the challenge in under 10 hours.
We ask for you to support us in any way you can through sponsorship and/or raising awareness about this fantastic charity.
Thanks for all the support
