Story
More than 100,000 people in the UK live with Multiple Sclerosis. In fact, most of us know someone who has it. A diagnosis of MS, usually between the ages of 20 and 40, can be scary and heart-breaking. Symptoms vary enormously from person to person. They can get steadily worse, or can come and go unpredictably. It is a very individual condition; no two people are affected in the same way.
The MS Society is the UK’s leading MS charity. It is made up of many local groups providing support for members and non-members, their families and carers.
I am running for the Solihull Group because my late father, Jim, lived in Solihull – and he was diagnosed with this terrible disease at the age of just 40, so spent most of his life in a wheelchair.
The Group is run wholly by volunteers who arrange a wide variety of services and activities and currently have over 150 members. As a group, they are fiercely proud to say that everything they raise locally they spend locally on families affected by MS. All of the funds generated go to support the costs of providing a telephone helpline, weekly physio classes, social meetings and outings, and grants for equipment and personal development, as well as running an adapted minibus.
But they can’t do any of this without the support of people like you! So please donate as much as you can.
