Fundraising for Leicester Hospitals Charity
Hey everyone,
I am holly (Harrison's mum) and I would like to share my little boy's story with you.
On the 12th January 2019 I went into early labour at home, an ambulance was called to my home to help transport me to the hospital. Harrison was always in breech position and still was when I went into labour. When the ambulance arrived to my home, my contractions got worse and it wasnt long till harrison started making little appearances.
By 12pm on the 12th I was rushed to the Leicester royal Hospital, at 12:04 my beautiful little boy named harrison was born weighing a tiny 4"14. Due to complications at home with the ambulance Harrison's brain starved of oxygen, which is known as HIE (Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy) for an hour.
Harrison was rushed in to the Neonatal unit where he had treatment to try and minimize his condition. The nurses & doctors at the LRI Neonatal unit put harrison on a cooling system but due to the damage that was done Harrison's condition never improved.
Harrison never got the chance to open his eyes to the beautiful world outside, it broke my heart knowing there was nothing I could do to save my first born child. The nurses & doctors gave me the chance to wash him, change his nappy and get him dressed like any mum would do with their child. The nurses took pictures of these moments I spent with harrison, so that i could keep them safely in a box & show him off to the world when i was ready. I'm thankful for the nurses & doctors gave me that gave me the chance to be a first time mum, these memories will always stay alive with me.
On the 14th of January 2019 at 9pm I sat down hugging harrison tightly against my chest knowing it wont be long till we said our goodbyes. I wasnt ready to say goodbye, no parent should ever have to say to their child. I had harrison still against my chest, I remember feeling his hair through my finger tips and his heart stopped beating at 9:14pm my beautiful boy gained his wings.
My main goal is to raise enough money to help Leicester's Neonatal unit in memory of Harrison. I want to give back to those nurses and doctors who helped me & harrison on the unit. So please help us by donating as much as you can as it goes a long way to help those on this unit.
Every little helps so please donate
*** UPDATE ***
we are now making beautiful blue heart badges in memory of Harrison, to help raise money for Leicester's NICU and to raise awareness for neonatal loss. Badges are £3 including postage and packaging
