Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We will be running the Dixons Carphone Race to the Stones on 10 - 11 July 2021 - a 100km (62 mile) ultramarathon from Lewknor, Oxfordshire, along The Ridgeway, the oldest path in Britain, and finishing at the iconic Avebury Stone Circle. We will be tackling the full 100km non-stop, and plan to run / walk the distance.

After the last year we have all had, we felt like we needed something to work towards, and to look forward to, so why not set ourselves the ultimate test and enter an ultramarathon, while raising money for an incredible cause while we do it?!

We will be raising money for St Luke's Hospice who cared for both of John's Godparents, Malcolm and Margaret Whyte at the end of their lives. St Luke's deliver the best possible palliative care in Sheffield and is dedicated to the wellbeing of the terminally ill and their loved ones.

Just 25% of their funding comes from the NHS, and during the covid-19 pandemic they are losing around £100,000 a month due to the closure of their shops, and major fundraising events being cancelled.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
