Children Today is aiming to raise £10,00 this June to help provide adapted equipment for disabled children and young adults to help them get regular exercise. I'm taking part in Children Today's 'Wheely Great Challenge' to help raise funds for vital adapted equipment. Please help me reach my fundraising goal and donate today!
Children Today helped provide an adapted trike for Loyd in 2016 to help with his rehabilitation after multi-level surgery. It gave him a fun way to help build strength and stamina.
Helen, Loyd's mum says: "Loyd, was born five-weeks prematurely. He had some minor delays in his mental development but was progressing well. Sadly at the age of six he suffered a number of seizures and was put into a medically induced coma, resulting in brain damage. The damage to his brain left Loyd unable to walk or talk.
"Over the years Loyd has slowly relearnt to walk and talk, but he is still severely mentally and physically disabled – able to only walk short distances at a time and he occasionally uses a wheelchair as he tires easily.
"Loyd was recently diagnosed with a rare condition known as ODDD or O3D (Oculo-dento-digital-dysplasia).
"Last year we took part in 5K May for Children Today to help others and Loyd raised over £1,800.
"So, this year he's set himself another challenge as part of Children Today's 'Wheely Great Challenge' and he's gong to be waling 10K in 10 different towns in the month of June including our home town Ellesmere Port, Chester, Birkenhead and of course Liverpool!"
