In the summer of 2013, the Gromit Unleashed trail hit Bristol and I decided to ride and run to all of the statues to raise money for, and awareness of, The Grand Appeal. This is the amazing charity who support the Bristol Children's hospital, where Luke, my son was treated when he was first born. Luke was born with a heart defect that required open heart surgery at 8 days old. Fast forward to 2018 and the 'Gromit Unleashed 2' trail is going to be let loose on the city of Bristol so it's time to get to all the new statues in one day again - on the 7th July. I will be joined by a number of friends and colleagues who will be completing their own challenges as the day goes on. This will be another great physical test which will be an Ironman distance event! Firstly, a 3.8km swim in Weston-super-mare with my wife Ruth,  then a 112 mile bike ride around the outskirts of Bristol and finally a marathon to all of the remaining statues in and around the centre of Bristol.  This will certainly be a huge challenge but we continue to be forever grateful to the staff at the hospital as Luke is now a healthy, happy 5 year old boy who is loving life!
