London marathon 2024 here I come🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️

I’m running for Blood cancer UK, a charity that has a special place in my heart and so it is an absolute honour to have been selected for a charity place.  Please spend a little time to read of my story and if you can donate a few pennies I will be extremely grateful. Every penny really does matter and will be put towards the continuing fight to beat this disease. Thank you 🙏 

In November 2013 my cousin Tom Moore was diagnosed with leukaemia and unfortunately in January 2014 at the young age of 35 he lost his battle to this hideous disease. He was an amazing, warm, kind, loving son, husband, father, cousin and friend to all he met. He was extremely passionate about many sports, football in particular, he worked for the Premier league and he had applied many times for the London marathon but never got the chance to run it. Lots of family and friends have run the London marathon in memory of Tom for blood cancer UK. His mum, my Auntie Anne has made it her mission, running countless races, to raise a huge amount for this charity in memory of Tom. She herself ran the London marathon at the tender age of 63 a few years ago, such an inspirational and special lady.

I can honestly say it has never been a lifelong ambition of mine to run the London Marathon however I’ve been completely inspired, firstly by my auntie Anne for all her resilience, strength and dedication to this charity and secondly, I spent many hours training with some awesome friends who took on this challenge in 2023.  I witnessed such courage and support, it gave me the belief that maybe I could actually do it too.

As I turn 50 next year,  I felt it would be a fitting tribute to my beautiful cousin to take on the family Marathon batten for 2024.  I’m in no doubt that 26.2 miles will be physically and mentally demanding, I will need to dig deep, especially training through the cold winter nights and early mornings, but I couldn’t be more excited and determined to complete this challenge and I will have Tom in my heart every step of the way along with the support of my amazing family and friends.
